Line of the Night: Carmelo Anthony (0.97). When you looked at Anthony before the start of the season, you saw player now in his mid-20’s who had seen his shot attempts and scoring decline over the past three years. I’m not sure how anyone could have predicted he’d put up line and line like this one against the Bulls: 30 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. He’s now averaging 30.5 points a game on the season and has increased his production across the board (with the exception of rebounding) compared to last year. JR Smith’s return from suspension has not effected Melo’s offensive production at all, and the kid seems poised to take a run at his career high in PPG.

That’s right, Carmelo is number 1 in PPG right now

Honorable Mentions: Not many days that Mo Williams (0.93) will out-line Lebron James (0.68), but the all-around goodness of his 18 point, 8 board, 5 assist, 3 three, 3 steal line was more fantasy friendly than LeBron’s 32 points, 7 boards and 9 assists. LeBron’s 5 turnovers didn’t help his cause; and Chauncey Billups (0.8) was a very efficient 5-9 from the floor and 8-8 from the line to finish with 21 points and 3 threes against the Bulls.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Steve Blake (0.78). Blake has a singular fantasy purpose in this world – to be the starting point guard on my CBS 30-man team. Thanks to Andre Miller’s horrible transition to the Blazers, Blake has started every single game either at PG or SG for the team, but he’s been wildly inconsistent the entire time. So, I’ll certainly take yesterday’s 14 point, 9 assist, 4 three game from Blake, but there are way better options out there for everyone else.

Like possibly Chris Andersen (0.53) if you need blocks and not much else, Darren Collison (0.50) – 22 points and 11 assists – if you need a PG, or Martell Webster (0.48) – a season high 21 points and 13 boards – if you need a GF.

The Biggest Loser: John Salmons (-0.61). Not exactly the game Salmons’ owners wanted to see from the already struggling player: 5 points on 2-11 shooting, 1 rebound and 1 assist. I vote for Nels to walk up to Salmons and slap some sense into him at the Bulls’ next home game.

All Eyez on Me:

New Orleans (6-8) at Miami (7-5) – The Hornets have now won 3 straight without their best player and perennial MVP candidate. A lot of that has to do with rookie PG Darren Collison, who has filled some big shoes by averaging 14.8 points and 6.5 assists per game in the 4 games since CP3 went down. And of course, Peja Stojakovic has returned from the dead to provide the Hornets with some much needed scoring during their winning streak.

Indiana (5-5) at Charlotte (3-9) – The Bobcats current average the fewest possessions per game at 89.9 and have one of the lowest offensive efficiencies and highest defensive efficiencies in the league. That all means they are a horrible team for fantasy and drag their opponents down with them. But the good news for the Pacers is that they are started to get their injured players back. Troy Murphy returned for the last game and Mike Dunleavy is expected to play next week.
