Day 32 of 170: Al Harrington Never Quits

Line of the Night: As usual, the Knicks’ game was full of fantasy goodness, starting with Al Harrington (1.36). Harrington dropped 41 points on the Nuggets off the bench for the Knicks, adding 10 boards, 4 threes, 2 steals and 2 blocks in 38 minutes. It’s amazing that – through 16 games at least – Harrington is putting up almost EXACTLY the same line as last season (really it’s kind of scary how similar they are) all while coming off the bench and averaging about 4 minutes a game less than last year. It’s also an indication he might be in for a downturn sometime soon.

Honorable Mentions: On the flip side, Carmelo Anthony (1.26) scored a career high 50 points against the Knicks. I just learned from his Yahoo player page that he’s the only player this season to score at least 20 points in every game; Kevin Durant (1.08) has certainly thrown up a few cringe worthy performances so far this year, but last night was all good as he scored 33 points and had 12 boards, 5 assists and 3 steals against Ersan Ilyasova and the Bucks; Gerald Wallace (1.08) got some tips from Michael Jordan during the game and finished with 31 points, 14 rebounds and 3 threes against LeBron and the Cavs; and a 19 point, 15 board, 5 assist performance from Marc Gasol (0.92) as he helped lead Memphis to a win over Portland.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: It may have taken injuries to every other small forward on the Blazers, but Martell Webster (1.34) is now starting and getting some big minutes for the team. Yesterday’s game against the Grizzlies saw him score 24 points while going 6-11 from three and blocking 3 shots. When Webster’s shot isn’t falling, his lines get ugly fast, but as long as the minutes are there for him he’ll make a decent SG/SF addition.

And Bucks’ starting small forward Ersan Ilyasova (0.47) is still available in 69% of leagues. He had 13 points and 12 rebounds in only 22 minutes against the Thunder.

The Biggest Loser: Corey Brewer (-0.63). Talk about a season of ups and downs – a day after scoring 22 points with 13 boards against the Nuggets – Brewer shoots 1-11 against the Suns, scoring 5 points and adding 3 turnovers in 29 minutes on the court. Brewer is now shooting 37% from the field this year, which means he’s exactly what we thought he was… which is totally not a shooting guard.

All Eyez on Me:

Dallas (12-4) at Cleveland (11-5) – Shaq returned to the Cavs starting lineup yesterday after missing six games. He scored 11 points and grabbed 8 boards in the game, but looked out of sync with the rest of the team. But in terms of fantasy, it’s time to get Shaq back into your lineups.

The Golden Ticket: Los Angeles Lakers (11-3) at Golden State (5-9) – Don Nelson is going to miss this game with pneumonia. We certainly make fun of Nelson around these parts as much as anyone, but we hope he makes a full recovery as soon as possible (so he can at least continue to inflict pain on Anthony Randolph owners). With Golden State running 7-8 deep and starting Mikki Moore at center, I have a feeling this one is going to get ugly fast for the Warriors.
