Line of the Night: The 9-7 Jazz haven’t had a lot to be thankful about recently, but Deron Williams (1.35) helped the Jazz to a much needed win over the Blazers with 24 points, 15 assists and 3 steals. Deron has been just about everything he was drafted to be so far this season and unlike his counterpart Chris Paul, at least he’s healthy and putting up consistently good lines.

Honorable Mentions: Pau Gasol (0.95) had 22 points (on 9-11 shooting) and 12 boards, which slightly out-fantasied his teammate Kobe Bryant (0.86). Bryant only shot 40%, scoring 20 points in the game, but he made up for it (almost entirely) with 5 steals; Carlos Boozer (0.85) is playing like a man possessed right now. Against the Blazers he finished 11-16 from the field, scoring 26 points and adding 12 boards and 7 assists; and the only thing you need to know about Maurice Williams’ (0.83) performance is that he went 7-7 from three win the Cavs win over the Mavs.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Jason Williams (0.66). Williams is still only owned in 24% of leagues. After a 12 point, 10 assist game against the Bucks, that number should be over 50% at least. Yes he is injury prone and not very consistent game-to-game, but considering PGs are usually in high demand Williams makes a great add while Jameer Nelson is out.

Anderson Varejao (0.55) had a season-high 15 and 9 for the Cavs as J.J. Hickson only got 14 minutes despite starting and Zydrunas Ilgauskas racked up an unusual DNP. That is not going to happen every game for Varejao, so he remains a guy to keep an eye on until he shows some consistency.

The Biggest Loser: Not even a close one today: Antawn Jamison (-0.6) came back from his injury a couple weeks ago and hit the ground running, so excuse us if his 6 points on 2-9 shooting with no rebounds and 1 assist in 27 minutes on the court is disappointing. However, the Bobcats are actually one of the better teams in the league defensively, so that might have something to do with Jamison’s horrible performance.

All Eyez on Me: A full slate of games today, including:

Boston (12-4) at Miami (9-6) – Arguably the best game on a day full of uneven matchups. As the Heat welcome back Quentin Richardson (no, really), we’ll let someone more in the know preview this game.

Orlando (13-4) at New York (3-13) – Oh, the things Dwight Howard should be able to do against the Knicks. And it’s a sad day indeed when we find out that this might be Darko’s last season.

New Jersey (0-16) at Los Angeles (12-3) – A loss would tie the Nets with the 1988-89 Miami Heat and the 1999 Clippers for the worst start in NBA history. After taking a stroll through some of the advance stats for the Nets, they actually don’t seem to be THAT bad, at least in a we need to remember them in a historical sense. The two positions where they have been horrible is PG (thanks to Rafer Alston) and PF where they have seen a lot of Josh Boone. The rest of the team is about average.
