Line of the Night: It wasn’t quite a triple-double, but the ageless Jason Kidd (1.54) filled up the stat line as only he can do with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists, 5 threes, 4 steals and 3 blocks as the Mavs edged out the Sixers 104-102. Kidd is putting up very similar numbers compared to last year, which has got to make those people who drafted him (often at a discount) very, very happy.

Honorable Mentions: Need that perfect Christmas present for your favorite NBA owner? The Jazz have a near-mint condition Carlos Boozer (1.18) for sale. Boozer scored 24 points, with 15 rebounds and 7 assists in a blowout of the Grizzlies; Andrew Bogut (0.86) returned ahead of schedule for the Bucks to score 22 points and grab 15 boards with 4 blocks against the Bulls. It’s great that Bogut returned to the lineup early, well, great until he reinjures himself because he came back too early; and Monta Ellis (0.72) dropped 45 points on TJ Ford and the Pacers. That’s enough to ignore the fact that he also turned the ball over 7 times.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: It has been a fairly brutal start to the season for Samuel Dalembert (0.64). So much so that he’s now owned in only 46% of Yahoo leagues. And even that seems high since he is only averaging 6.3 points and a near career low 7.7 rebounds a game. Against the Mavs last night, Dalembert scored only 6 points, but compensated by grabbing 19 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. He has now seen 33, 34, and 40 minutes in his last three games and as long as Marreese Speights remains out, Dalembert should (emphasis on should) continue to get big minutes. What he chooses to do with those minutes is a different story.
CJ Watson (0.62) had an 18/4/6 in 35 minutes off the bench for the Warriors; and Wesley Matthews (0.54), who has been starting at SG for the Jazz, scored 17 points and had 5 points in 38 minutes on the court. Matthews saw an above average amount of minutes because the Jazz game was a blowout, but Watson could be worth picking up as the Warriors don’t have many other healthy options right now.
The Biggest Loser: Marc Gasol (-0.73). It was bound to happen. Gasol – who started off the season like he had stolen all of Pau’s skills – scored 5 points on 1-5 shooting, adding 3 rebounds with no assists or steals. Chalk it up to a bad game for the Grizzlies in general and Gasol in particular.
All Eyez on Me:
New Orleans (7-10) at Los Angeles (13-3) – According to John Reid of The Times Picayune, Chris Paul is targeting a return in about 10 days. While he is currently working out with the team, his sprained ankle is still preventing him from making cuts out on the court. Also, it sounds like Peja Stojakovic is going to miss this game for personal reasons, meaning that everyone’s favorite forward, James Posey, will get the start.
Miami (9-7) at Portland (12-7) – A Jerryd Bayless sighting? Bayless got a season high 22 minutes in Portland’s last game and he finished with a season-high 14 points. His time came at the expense of Andre Miller, who only played 6 minutes in the game and sat out the entire second quarter for some mysterious reason.
The Golden Ticket: Golden State (6-10) at Denver (12-5) – Another 50 points for Carmelo? Or maybe Nene. Anthony Randolph left the Warriors last game with an ankle injury. If he misses tonight’s game, it’s going to be the Mikki Moore show out there for the Warriors, which can only mean great things are ahead for the Nuggets frontcourt.
