Line of the Night:In a night of some very, very good fantasy lines, Deron Williams (1.20) stepped it up against the Wolves (fantasy-wise only, since the Jazz actually lost) and finished with 38 points, 13 assists and a couple threes. He was also 14-18 from the free throw line, which is impressive just for the sheer volume of free throws he took. Percentage-wise, it works out to a just about league average 77.7%, meaning that it didn’t really add or subtract anything to his game score. Still, I’m not even mad about it. I’m just impressed.

I still could learn a thing or two about photoshop from the master
Honorable Mentions: There were a lot of good fantasy lines yesterday. Thaddeus Young (0.97) brought down 14 boards and added 3 steals in a Sixers win over Golden State; Chris Paul (0.95) and his 16 assists and 5 steals have to settle for the third best line of the night. Why? Because he only took 2 free throws; Kevin Durant (0.80) dropped 32 and 10 on the Nuggets; and Antawn Jamison (0.74) dropped 32 and 11 in a loss to the Clippers. So why is Durant ranked higher than Jamison? Because he was 12-13 from the line. Damn straight he was.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Chris Andersen (0.93). Mr. Andersen came off the bench for the Nuggets to score 15 points with 11 rebounds and 3 blocks in exactly 32 minutes. He’s slowly starting to heat up after a horrible start to the season and is worth a look if your team is in desperate need of blocks.
The man, the myth, the guy who continues to be added and dropped in leagues everywhere – Corey Brewer (0.45) – scored 22 points against the Jazz on 8-15 shooting. That is now 3 games in a row where Brewer has shot over 50% from the field, which either means he’s turned his shooting around or he’ll be 2-10 from the field in the Wolves next game. You make the call.
The Biggest Loser: Monta Ellis (-0.78). It’s always an easy choice when the player with the absolute worst fantasy score is also one that is owned in most every league. Ellis scored a season low 8 points on 3-14 shooting, adding 1 rebound and 2 assists. Is Allen Iverson to blame for this? Really, I want to know. I didn’t get a chance to see this game.
All Eyez on Me:
New York (8-15) at Charlotte (9-13) – In the battle of the slow down vs. the speed up offenses, the slow down usually wins the pace battle. That means we could be in for some ugly fantasy games for the Knicks. But watch to see how Chris Duhon performs in this one. Wait, who am I kidding… don’t worry about Duhon.
Detroit (11-12) at Houston (13-10) – Rip Hamilton is back for the Pistons. In his return to the court on Saturday, Rip scored a solid 18 points in 36 minutes on the court. Rip’s return means we can wave bye bye to Will Bynum, who was putting together a solid performance in Rip’s absence.
