Line of the Night: Steve Nash (1.51). Not surprisingly, the Phoenix/Golden State game lead to the best line of the night. Old man Nash scored 36 points on 14-22 shooting. He also added 9 assists and 6 threes. The Suns still lost the game 132-127, but with a line like that who needs wins.

Honorable Mentions: A huge double-double for Al Horford (1.41) with 25 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks in a win over the Pacers. Horford might not have the ceiling of an Al Jefferson, but he’s one of the most consistently good centers in the league; Kobe Bryant (1.21) used 2 overtimes to score 38 points, adding 7 boards, 4 threes and 4 steals; and Josh Smith (1.21) certainly doesn’t have Al Horford’s consistency, but when he goes off it’s for lines like this: 22 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, 4 steals and 5 blocks
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Devin Brown (1.03) – who I had to double check still plays for the Hornets – was a career high 6-7 from three on his way to 22 points against the Bulls. If you’re really desperate for a guard, Brown has now scored in double digits in 5 straight games, averaging 2+ threes a game over that time.
Donte Greene (0.7) is a defensive stopper who was asked to guard Kobe yesterday. You can see how that ultimately turned out, but the kid did contribute some offense, scoring 16 points and grabbing 5 boards (although it took 2 overtimes to get him there).
The Biggest Loser: The only thing scarier than Mike Dunleavy’s (-0.67) performance is that I’m starting him in 2 leagues. In 24 minutes on the court, Dunleavy was 1-4 from the field and finished with 2 points, 2 rebounds and 5 turnovers. Clearly, something is still wrong with Dunleavy, and Jim O’Brien blames the legs. Have they tried some calisthenics? I hear that’s all the rage now a days.
All Eyez on Me:
Dallas (21-9) at Denver (20-10) – Denver returns home, a place where they are averaging 115 points a game this year. And make sure that Chauncey Billups is back in your lineup. He returned on Christmas to play the first half of that game after missing 3 games with a strained groin. He should play more than that today provided the Nuggets don’t get blown out or anything.
Houston (18-12) at Cleveland (23-8) – If any team was tailor made to letting Shaq have a good game, it is the Houston Rockets and their 6-6 center Chuck Hayes. But the last time these teams met, Shaq was only 2-8 from field, scoring 7 points. In fact, the entire Cavs lineup was shut down by the Rockets with the exception of LeBron.
