Day 68 of 170: Where Gilbert Arenas is Locked and Loaded

I can’t blame Arenas for this, you never know when the zombie virus is going to hit.

Line of the Night: I haven’t really been following Stephen Jackson (1.46) since his trade to the Bobcats, but he’s actually been far better for them than I was anticipating (although he still has certain glaring weaknesses in his game). Yesterday, Jackson scored 35 points in a win over the Heat, adding 8 rebounds and 4 threes. He’s now averaging 19.9 points, 5 boards and 1.5 threes for the Bobcats over 22 games, which would be a lot easier to swallow if he also wasn’t shooting 39.6% from the field and averaging 3.4 turnovers per game.

Honorable Mentions: A few of the usual suspects. Playing against Golden State, Brandon Roy (1.32) scored 37 points, going 12-16 from the field, with 6 rebounds and 5 assists; Dwyane Wade (1.14) bounced back from a wretched game against the Kings to score 29 points with 11 assists in a loss to the Bobcats (thanks in part to his 6 turnovers); Lebron James (1.12) came “this” close to a triple double with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in a win over New Jersey; and I really can’t believe that Rasheed Wallace (1.03) is still owned in 81% of fantasy leagues (really? REALLY?), but Sheed got the start at PF with KG out and took full advantage of the opportunity, scoring 16 points and adding 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 threes as the Celtics beat the Raptors.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: It’s two great games in a row for Omri Casspi (1.02), who is still only owned in a criminally low 30% of leagues. Casspi had 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 threes against the Mavs in 41 minutes on the court. The imminent return of Kevin Martin will negatively affect Casspi’s value, but he’s definitely worth a short-term pickup.

The Biggest Loser: A 2-13 shooting night for Channing Frye (-0.51), who finished 0-5 from three and only scored 4 points on the night. Frye has been so good this season that we can forgive one bad shooting night from him.

All Eyez on Me:

Indiana (10-22) at New York (13-20) – Time to see what kind of encore performance Nate Robinson has after his 41 point game on Friday night. Troy Murphy is questionable for this game with a sprained ankle.

Dallas (23-10) at Los Angeles (26-6) – Silver Screen and Roll has a preview of this game up. Ron Artest is questionable for this one with a concussion (there is an inappropriate joke somewhere in there).

Other Stuff Like This:

  • Michael
Sheed is still owned in 81% of leagues for a couple reasons:

    1) The guy's game is best on efficiency. 4 to 1 effectiveness on the Eddy Curry Line (assists+steals+blocks)
    2) Still rated 81st by Yahoo this season
    3) Everyone still believes that Perkins/Garnett will go down at some point.
  • Point 2 and 3 taken. I was surprised to see that Sheed is still ranked in the 80's in 9 cat leagues despite only averaging 22 minutes a game. He is ranked in the 120's when you remove turnovers from the equation, meaning that Sheed's fantasy value is driven primarily by a lack a stat. However, I guess it's a moot point for the time being because with KG currently out of the lineup for the time being, Wallace should now be owned in 100% of leagues.
