Line of the Night: It’s not often that a game in which Marcus Camby (0.98) scores 9 points is going to bring home LotN, but that’s what kind of night it was. Camby did finish with 15 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks in a win over the Blazers. And the hyper extended knee that kept him out for a game last week appears – for once – not to be something more serious than that.
Honorable Mentions: David West (0.9) scored 20 points with 9 boards and 3 blocks; and Dwyane Wade (0.85) had a 28/8/4 as the Heat shutdown the Hawks 92-75.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Martell Webster (0.79), currently owned in 15% of leagues, scored a season high 25 points on 5-9 shooting from three. That’s two games in a row that Webster has scored 20+ points and he looks to be a good short-term add while every other Blazer is hurt.
Are the Bulls currently showcasing the unique combo guard abilities of Kirk Hinrich (0.67)? Hinrich got the start and 42 minutes against the Thunder and finished the game with 15 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Rumors have him being sent to the Wizards for Caron Butler as a replacement for the gun-toting and possibly soon to be suspended Gilbert Arenas.
Devin Brown (0.56) scored a career-high 30 points in a starting role for the Hornets, going 5-8 from three. Brown has been very good for the past few weeks now and makes a decent pickup if you’re in need of a shooting guard type who can hit the three.
The Biggest Loser: The Atlanta Hawks, for shooting 35% from the field against the Heat last night. And a big reason the Hawks only scored 75 points was Josh Smith (-0.53). Smith was 3-9 from the field and 2-6 from the line and finished with 8 points and 3 turnovers. He did contribute 6 rebounds and 5 assists, so it wasn’t a complete disaster of a game. Other potent potables include Joe Johnson, who shot 4-15, and Al Horford, who was 3-10.
All Eyez on Me: Your choice of 9 games today, including:
Orlando (24-9) at Indiana (10-23) – Two guys getting big minutes for the Pacers you may want to check out are Luther Head and Earl Watson. Head is starting at SG over Brandon Rush and Dahntay Jones and he has put together 3 nice games in a row, while Watson has started 7 of the Pacers last 9 games at PG over TJ Ford. Ford is now out of the lineup completely, making Watson a possible long-term solution to your team’s PG needs.
Chicago (14-18) at Charlotte (14-18) – Oh No, We Suck Again.
The Golden Nugget: Golden State (9-23) at Denver (21-13) – The clash of two fast passed offenses should almost certainly produce a line of the night tomorrow. Chauncey Billups will likely miss this game because of a strained groin, so Ty Lawson continues to make a good play. Carmelo Anthony, however, is more likely to play in this one.
