Line of the Night: Baron Davis (1.71) showed some lightning against the Thunder (groan!). Davis turns 31 this year, so I suppose he’s not all the worth of the title of the post, but what else you got? Better title? Leave it in the comments. Meanwhile, Davis had 27 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists, and 5 steals. He even shot 52% from the field. And the Clippers still lost.

Honorable Mentions: Stephen Jackson (1.65) had 43 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals, shooting 68% from the floor. He’ll be 32 this year.
Dwight Howard (1.12) is not old. That’s probably had something to do with how he scored 30 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, stole the ball 3 times, and block 3 shots. Did you not my use of active verbs there? Tight.
Charlie Villanueva (0.93) bounced back after the Pistons GOT DECIMATED by the Bulls. Lucky for Detroit, they were playing the equally hopeless Washington Wizards. New Town (eh? eh?) had 23 points, including 5 threes, with 9 rebounds.
And finally, another old guy Tim Duncan (0.89) had 25 and 13 with 4 blocks. 63% from the field and 25% from the line. Classic Duncan.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: You wanted someone owned in less than 20% of leagues? Howzabout Mickael Pietrus (0.88) and his 18 points and 10 reboudns? A steal and a block with high percentages round things out. Oh, is Vince Carter injured? Yeah, pick up Pietrus and ride him for as long as VC is back to being Half Man Half Injured.
And in case you were wondering, Randy Foye (0.71) played 37 minutes, scoring 20 points, and dishing 10 assists for the Wizards. He’s up to 63% owned, though, so if you don’t have him already, you better go get him right now. You can read the rest of this after you do that.
The Biggest Loser: Gerald Wallace (-0.36) played all 48 minutes of the Bobcats win over the Rockets. From a guy like him you’d expect a LotN with those minutes, but last night, he scored 9 points on 2-10 shooting (5-8 from the line). He did have 8 rebounds to his credit, along with 2 steals and a block, but turned the ball over 4 times. Not a dreadful performance, but certainly, for someone playing 48 minutes, you expect a little more.
All Eyez On Me: San Antonio (23-13) is only 2.5 games ahead of Oklahoma City (21-16). I tell ya, I kinda love those OKC kids.
The Lakers (29-9) – the only team still in single-digit losses – are in Dallas (25-12) tonight. Proving Grounds.
Orlando (26-12) at Denver (24-14) should be interesting because there’s a definite slow v. speed thing going on. I can imagine Orlando really slowing things down without VC in there.
The Golden Ticket: Miami (18-18) at Golden State (11-25) is supposedly the Golden Ticket tonight… Though it’s hard to say who on either team is going to exploit it.
If I were going to participate in a one-off game tonight, and had to pick players for a roster, I’d probably lean heavily on the New York Knicks, who are playing in Philadelphia tonight. Now, where would one find a game like that in which to make use of such knowledge?
GMTR’s Weekly Fantasy Contest: Wondering what you’re going to do with the knowledge you just obtained above? Go join the GMTR Weekly Fantasy Contest and see if you can beat the experts! Just click through and find the GiveMeTheRock.com FreeRoll (Contest #92067).
It’s a one-day-a-week one-night-only event, and it’s a brand new game every Wednesday, so you don’t have to be saddled with injuries or a bad draft. True fantasy knowledge of the entire league is necessary to fill your roster as efficiently as possible. It’s now about more than just the 13 guys on your team. Anyone could be eligible any week, so be prepared.
(And I actually wrote that ad copy myself – sounds like something a real marketing person might come up with, right?)
