Line of the Night: Not only did the Charlotte Bobcats rout the Phoenix Suns 125-99, they also set some all-time franchise records for points scored in the first quarter and half of a game (and have won 4 straight games). Stephen Jackson (1.74) led the way for the Bobcats with 29 points on 11-17 shooting. He added 8 assists, 5 steals and 4 threes in the blowout.

Suns Bobcats Basketball

Honorable Mentions: Two straight amazing games from Gerald Wallace (1.26), who had 29 points and 13 boards in Charlotte’s beat down; David Lee (1.19) was one assist shy of a triple-double in the Knicks’ loss to Detroit. He finished with a 26/17/9 line; Kevin Durant (1.14) hit an amazing 14 of 18 shots from the floor, scoring 36 points and adding 10 rebounds; and some GMTR love to Roy Hibbert (0.85) who had 27 points, 10 boards and 3 blocks for the Pacers.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Might Carlos Delfino (1.02) be the guy who benefits from Michael Redd’s absence? Delfino was not one of the names being thrown out for fantasy purposes when Redd went down with a season ending injury. But he has been the guy getting run in the Bucks’ last two games and yesterday he responded by shooting 6-10 from three and 10-14 overall to finish with 28 points in 39 minutes off the bench.

After three disappointing games in a row, Rasual Butler (0.99) broke out with a whopping 44 minutes against the Cavs and scored 33 points on 12-18 shooting with 4 threes. Butler’s game has always been inconsistent which probably relegates his usefulness to deep leagues only.

Welcome Back: Technically, this was Kevin Martin’s (0.59) second game back from a broken bone that kept off the court for 30+ games. While Martin still needs to shake buckets of rust off his shot, he did finish with 23 points and 3 threes. Martin’s return is the death gong for Beno Udrih (5 points in 23 minutes) who is now droppable in all but the deepest leagues. The jury is still out on how Martin and Tyreke Evans (23 points, 6 boards, 7 assists) mesh in the same backcourt, but the results seem positive so far. As long as Evans can continue to get 14-15 shots off a game, he’ll score enough to maintain the value that he has while Martin was out.

The Biggest Loser: Chris Duhon (-0.73) was benched in the third quarter of the Pistons game yesterday after this blockbuster performance: 0 points, 0 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 turnovers. All that in only 18 minutes and you wonder how he gets it all done. Now might be the time to grab Nate Robinson (0.33), especially if you happen to own Duhon as well.

Richard Jefferson (-0.63) was also horrible yesterday, going 0-6 from the field and scoring 3 points in 21 minutes. It was the first time he did not have a field goal in a game since 2006.

All Eyez on Me: Only two games from the NBA today

Dallas (26-13) at Toronto (20-20) – Raptors HQ devotes a few paragraphs to rookie DeMar DeRozan, who at his best gives the team someone other than Bosh who can attack the basket regularly. Unfortunately, given his inconsistency from night to night, DeRozan’s game probably will not be worth owning for fantasy purposes until next season. But officially write him down on your 2010-11 sleeper lists.

Utah (23-17) at Denver (25-14) – The Jazz are currently running 10 deep in their rotation, which is probably a great idea from a “keeping the team healthy” standpoint, but not so much from a fantasy one. Instead of having a standout 6th man like Denver’s J.R. Smith, the Jazz have Paul Millsap getting 25 minutes a game and struggling to perform at the level he did last year, C.J. Miles and Ronnie Price all over the place from game to game, and Wesley Matthews and Kyle Korver siphoning time away from the starters.
