I apologize for missing last week’s guide. I was down with the flu and my head was feeling like Bradon Roy’s hamstring.

Anyway, here we are with a major week. There are NO teams with that are playing less than three games this week and and two thirds of the league’s teams are slated to play four games.

Teams with FOUR games: ATL, BOS, CHA, CLE, DEN, GSW, HOU, IND, LAC, LAL, MEM, MIA, MIN, NOR, NYK, ORL, PHI, PHO, POR, SAN

Teams with THREE games: CHI, DAL, DET, MIL, NJN, OKL, SAC, TOR, UTA, WAS

    Drops, Pick-ups and Fillers

    Rudy Dunk

Brandon Roy is slated to miss four games due to his hamstring injury. Steve Blake and Rudy Fernandez are likely going to share time at SG during Portland’s four-game week. Sit Roy and pick either of them as a filler for threes, steals, and some assists. Fernandez should give you more steals while Blake should be good for more dimes. These players will have extra time on the floor due to an ankle sprain that Jerryd Bayless suffered against Detroit. Besides it’s always nice to be able to cheer “Rudy! Rudy!” for one of your guys.

Daniel Gibson (G) is a good candidate for a pick-up for this week. Cleveland is playing four games and he should be a good source of 2+ 3PPG, 3 or so APG, and 1 SPG. Jawad Williams (F) should be considered as a target if you are in a deep league. While Gibson fills Mo Williams’ duties positionally, Jawad may emerge as a scoring contributor over the month that Mo is expected to miss.

DeJuan Blair (SF/PF/C) has some second-half of the season value. He will score on occasion, but his value comes from his REB and BLK contributions. Tim Duncan will often be rested as the season winds down. This will mean more minutes on the floor and opportunities for Blair to produce for your fantasy teams. He’s only owned in 29% of Yahoo leagues. Expect that statistic to rise as the season moves along.

Robin Lopez (F/C) is only owned in 41% of Yahoo leagues. In case you haven’t been paying attention, he’s taken Channing Frye’s starting job over at Phoenix. This will mean that Frye will have more frequent inconsistent games. Lopez is a good source of FG%, REB, and BLK. You may want to consider dropping Frye if you are playing in a 10-man league or shallower.

Brandon Rush (G/F) has snuck his way back into Indiana’s starting line-up. DROP Luther Head. While Rush has not exactly been the best spokesmodel for consistency this season. He’s doing a lot better now that Danny Granger is back and is not required/pressured as much to be a scorer. He works best as a kick-out target on the wings – his main source of three-point shooting success.

Kyle Lowry (G) has been hot and cold this season and his production is sometimes inversely proportional to how well (or not) Aaron Brooks is playing for the evening. He (Lowry) has, however, shown that he can be a reliable scorer off the Rockets’ bench and should be a useful source of PTS, AST, and STL; during Houston’s four-game gig this week.

Ersan Ilyasova (F) has found himself back on the Milwaukee Bucks’ bench. He’s proven to be a streaky shooter at best this season and is currently on a slump. He does chip in STL and REB, but his poor shooting as of late has opened up time and opportunities for Carlos Delfino and Jerry Stackhouse. I would recommend picking Delfino over Stackhouse for now and dropping Ilyasova if there are better alternatives in the FA pool.

Earl Watson (PG) is owned in only 11% of Yahoo leagues and understandably so. He’s old and is not going to produce much. The thing is, however, is that he’s taking up the bulk of PG minutes in Indiana and may be considered as a suitable source of AST and STL with some occasional 3PTM. Scoring and FG% will rarely be pretty, but he should serve as a decent booster for those above mentioned counting stats.
