Line of the Night: None of the Mavericks got the Line of the Night, but that’s what happens when you outscore a team by 26 points in the 3rd quarter to go up by 42. Nobody who played in the first 3 quarters plays in the 4th, and that makes it hard for anyone to be too incredible fantasy relevant. Kobe Bryant (1.01) was an assist short of his first triple-double of the season, but his 27 points, 16 rebounds, and 9 assists were enough (and probably would be enough for any night).
Honorable Mentions: Jason Terry (0.87) was part of the Mavericks assault New York. Terry ended up with 20 points (4 threes), 4 assists, and a steal. His real value comes from the 8-12 shooting from the field.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: I have him on the bench on one of my teams, but Drew Gooden is still only owned in 24% of leagues. He had 15 and 18 last night, with 2 blocks, shooting 54% from the field and making 3 of 3 free throws. He’s been pulling out a bunch of solid games recently. You can tell we’ve definitely hit the point in the fantasy basketball season where about half of everybody playing stops caring because otherwise, Gooden would certainly have a higher ownership percentage right now.
So even though Kobe had the Line of the Night, his team lost, so I’m gonna hitcha with a little:
The Biggest Loser: Well, if it’s not the Knicks as a collective, then how about just Al Harrington (-0.45) who went 3-11 from the field and 1-2 from the line to end with 7 points and 7 rebounds.
All Eyez On Me: Phoenix @ Utah looks to be the powerhouse matchup tonight. If I were looking for fantasy performances though, I’m going with Cleveland @ Miami, or Chicago @ San Antonio. Tim Duncan should be able to dominate the latter, and he’s proven he’s still capable of a Line of the Night every once in a while.
