Line of the Night: The Lakers destroyed the Pacers 118-96 last night, led by Kobe Bryant (1.28) who scored 29 points on 10-15 shooting, adding 9 rebounds and 7 assists against what amounts to a JV squad for them. After a long stretch of Kobe shooting under 40% from the field thanks to a broken finger, Kobe has just reeled off three good-to-great shooting games in a row. That would make me breathe easier if I actually owned Kobe in any leagues.

Lakers Pacers Basketball

Honorable Mentions: Chris Paul’s (1.27) performance against the Warriors was indeed everything we thought it would be as he finished with 28 points on 14-19 shooting, with 9 assists and 3 steals in 38 minutes on the court; Tim Duncan (1.11). Timmy D had a ridiculous 21 and 27 double-double, which more than makes up for the fact that he was only 5-20 from the field. It was a career high in rebounds for Duncan, which actually means something when you’ve been in the league for 13 years; a 35 point performance for Dwyane Wade (1.06), who added 10 assists in the game compared to PG Rafer Alston’s two; and Kevin Durant (1.05) (along with Jeff Green) was one of the only bright spots in the Thunder’s loss to the Bulls. KD scored 28 points, with 11 board, 5 assists and 3 blocks.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: A career-high 25 points for Kris Humphries (0.76), who got 30 minutes off the bench for the Nets. Humphries was 10-15 from the field, adding 8 rebounds a steal and a block. While the shooting percentage tells us this kind of scoring output was a fluke, Humphries has been getting 25+ minutes a game for the Nets over the past week and is worth a look in deeper leagues.

JJ Hickson (0.71) had 23 points in a start at forward for the Cavs, although his 8-10 shooting night also means he’s a stay away free agent; Keyon Dooling (0.69) scored 18 with 8 assists for the Nets and is worth an add as long as Devin Harris remains out (which sounds like a while); and CJ Watson (0.59) got the rare start for the Warriors and scored 23 points in 37 minutes. Grab him if you like inconsistent guards on inconsistent teams who blow up every one in a while.

Injury of the Night: Tony Parker (-0.22) left the Spurs/Hawks game after spraining his ankle on a drive in the in the third quarter. More test need to be done to determine the length of Parker’s absence, but to quote the game recap, “…it didn’t look good for San Antonio’s star point guard.” In the meantime, you want to grab George Hill and to a lesser extent Roger Mason if available, especially since both shown to be capable fill-ins in the past.

Carlos Boozer also left the Jazz/Blazers game early with a strained calf. Consider him day-to-day for now and if you’ve stashed Paul Millsap up to this point in the season, he’ll finally make a good play if and when Boozer is out.

Gun Fight at the Not OK Corral: Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton have officially been suspended by David Stern for the rest of the season for their involvement in the classic “gun in the locker” prank. So, I guess the season that Arenas’ knees finally don’t betray him his brain does. The Wizards still may try to void the rest of Arenas’ contract, but regardless of what happens, one of the most debated questions going into next year’s fantasy season has to be, when (or if at all) do you draft Arenas?

The Biggest Loser: Ron Artest (-0.54) was 1-6 from the field against the Nets, scoring 2 points, with 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 24 minutes on the court. It’s the third straight game he’s scored 5 points or less and you’ve got to be worried about his role (or lack thereof) going forward as long as the Lakers are healthy.

All Eyez on Me: Three NBA games tonight, the most fantasy friendly of which being Dallas (30-15) at Phoenix (26-20). Goran Dragic is worth an add if he’s still available in your league as Leandro Barbosa is supposed be out a while after getting surgery on his wrist.

Toronto (24-22) at New York (18-26) – Andrea Bargnani and Chris Bosh should be in for great games against the Knicks’ frontcourt. And Sonny Weems may get another start at SG for DeMar DeRozan, who is day-to-day with an ankle injury.

    getting an offer

i give: lou williams and beasley

i get, caron butler, rudy fernandez

ive about had it with williams and butlers inconsistent play and butler, although struggling gets 40 min a night, and i thought he was going to have a turnaround with arenas gone. It hasnt happened yet, but i should make this trade, right?

beasley and butlers #s are so comparable that Im scared to pull the trigger.

  2. Terrance Says:

i read that artest has plantar fashitis. maybe it was on here? hes trying to play through it. which means, cut bait. I am. Trying to get anything I can for him before dropping him

  3. jdunnisher Says:

CP3 actually had 38 points last night

  4. Patrick Says:

You are correct sir. Thanks for the clarification.

  5. nelswadycki Says:

Erik did a piece on plantar fasciitis, and I think he did mention Artest (which was actually the first I'd heard about it). He is totally playing like crap, and at this point, you probably should be shopping him. It's hard to say Drop Him for a Free Agent because he's got potential to be a valuable asset. But yeah, I'd be looking to see if anyone wants to stash him on their bench and wait for him to recover.

  6. Patrick Says:

Seems like a fairly even trade to me. You giving up two decent players to get the best player in return in Butler, and taking along some risk to go with it. Williams has not been great since the Iverson signing, although Butler has not seen that much of an improvement either since Arenas got suspended. Personally I do it, with the understanding that Butler carries some injury risk along with him.

  7. jdunnisher Says:

I have the misfortune of playing against CP3 this week, so I was painfully aware of the 38 points he dropped against the Golden Ticket last night
