Since mentions of this weekly fantasy game are only sort of scattered through posts in a haphazard fashion, I’ve decided to finally give it a post of it’s own, which will hopefully serve to clarify things.

Executive Summary
1. Sign up at 365 Fantasy Sports
2. Check every Tuesday night or Wednesday during the day for the GiveMeTheRock FreeRoll contest
3. Register for the FreeRoll using the code: GMTR
4. Pick your lineup and see if you can guess predict fantasy performances better than Patrick and me (who do this on a daily basis, in case you hadn’t noticed)

Expanded Explanation

First off, I’ve played this for 3 weeks so far, and it’s actually pretty fun. And also a little bit super-challenging. The way the game is set up, you get to pick a new lineup every week from the players that are playing on Wednesday night (traditionally, a game-heavy night for the NBA). That’s cool because it means you don’t have to worry about having drafted Chris Paul #1 overall and now being without his services for 4-6 weeks. But, it’s hard because you have to know about many more players than just the guys on your team and the scrubs on the waiver wire. You have to know about everyone, because you never know which guys are going to be available on a given Wednesday night, and even then you have to be able to ascertain their statistical potential versus their cost to your budget (your budget is given as a set number of Points).

Recently (last week): I could have taken this one if I’d picked a comparably-priced Forward instead of that jackass Marcus Camby. Of course, Sr. Camby followed up that Wednesday night performance with 10 points, 19 rebounds, 4 steals, and a block.
