Line of the Night: LeBron James (1.25) looked like Usain Bolt as far as LotN scores were concerned last night. The next closest player to LeBron’s 1.25 is Roger Mason with 0.46. I mean, good for Roger Mason! LeBron stepped it up (or, played like he has basically most of the season) against the Magic of Orlando, leading the Cavaliers of Cleveland to victory with his 32 points (2 threes), 8 rebounds, 13 assists, and 2 steals. His percentages were solid, especially considering his number of attempts. But, I ask you: What else is new? And, I tell you: Not much.
Honorable Mentions: I suppose Roger Mason (0.46) has to get some sort of Honorable Mention… He did manage to make 4 three-pointers and not miss a single free throw (albeit, he didn’t actually take any free throws). And, if that’s the case, then Daniel Gibson (0.45) must also be mentioned honorably for his 3 three-pointers and 100% not-missing-free-throws-by-not-taking-any.
Finally, I will mention Dwight Howard (0.39), because if there had been a larger selection of professional basketball players engaged in their work (as is never the case on Thursday nights), then his 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks might have been scored better when compared to the less creamy part of the crop.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: You might think with everyone resting before the All Star Game that there’d be a lot of wannabe pick-ups filling in for injured players. Not the case for the 4 teams that duked it out last night. Cleveland, Orlando, San Antonio, and Denver are actually all pretty healthy now. And so, I can with some confidence say that Matt Barnes (0.38) is a pretty good pick up if you want some more threes and steals. I can say with even more confidence that DeJuan Blair (0.26) is also a good pick up, if you want some points and rebounds and the occasional steal and block.
The Biggest Loser: You’d be headed in the right direction if you thought that Chauncey Billups (-0.09) and his 25% shooting were bad. But his teammate Arron Afflalo (-0.65) tipped the scales with 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 turnovers in 38 minutes. He’s only owned in 15% of leagues, but he’s averaging 27 minutes on the season (and 31 minutes in the last month), so I’m making an exception.
If you’re looking for a more traditional TBL, look no further than Vince Carter who managed to score 14 points, but was 5-16 from the field and 4-6 from the line.
All Eyez On Me: I would say there’s some sort of weird game going on tonight, but also, the Olympics start tonight, so good luck with that, NBA.
Don’t Forget: Play GMTR’s Weekly Fantasy Game. No, really. It’s fun!
And finally, Friday’s Tiny Dancer: I’ve posted so many Cavalier Girls here (LeBron seems to like Thursday nights, what can I say?) I forget if I’ve already thrown this one up, but whatever… It’s a bikini calendar photo shoot. Can’t go wrong with doubling up on that, right?
