Line of the Night: Wade has missed 3 games now, so I don’t know where Wright was for the first two of those, but he finally decided it was time for him to make his impression his impression felt. I don’t think he warned anyone to sit back and fasten their seat belts. Dorrell Wright (1.61) is owned in only 3% of leagues, and wrightfully so. Bazzow! Last night, though, he made everyone (except the Timberwolves, who still won the game) look silly by tossing in 6 threes en route to 26 points, while pulling down 7 rebounds, grabbing 2 steals, and blocking 3 shots. And he shot 81% from the field. So, don’t ever expect that to happen again. Until next season.
Honorable Mentions: Kobe Bryant (1.55) probably thought he was in the running for LotN (because you know he reads GMTR) with his 32 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. And he was in the running. He just didn’t get it. But, the Lakers won, so a moral victory for Kobe.
Louis Williams (1.14) looks to be on the up and up with Iverson missing time (and perhaps the rest of the season). Williams had 26 points (5 threes), 10 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Kevin Durant (1.11) added another 36 points to his career total. Ho hum.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Marcus Thornton (0.99) is only owned in 34% of Yahoo leagues, which, at first surprised me since he has been averaging 30 minutes per game over the last month. But he hasn’t been using those minutes as efficiently as Darren Collison, which goes a long way in explaining it. Last night, though, Thornton proved the better of the two, going 15-22 from the field for 37 points. He’s probably a good pick up going forward in deeper leagues, but obviously Collison was the big winner in the Chris Paul Injury Sweepstakes.
The Biggest Loser: I want to say Robin Lopez (-0.57) because he’s been inching his way to fantasy relevancy for a while, but last night his 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 turnovers might have set him all the back to where he started. Yet, he is still only owned in 34% of leagues, and so, doesn’t technically qualify.
The real culprit would be Ron Artest (-0.38) who stole 42 minutes from the court by scoring only 3 points (1-9 FG, 1-2 FT) to go with his 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 turnovers. Not a total killer, but frustrating because you know you you’re not going to drop him, so you just have to put up with it.
All Eyez On Me: OKC @ San Antonio. Believe it or, well, believe it, the Thundercats lead the Spurs by 1.5 games in the West.
Lakers @ Dallas – proving time for the Mavs.
