Line of the Night: In case you missed it, Patrick predicted that someone from the Nuggets-Warriors game would get the Line of the Night. It was not Carmelo Anthony’s body that caught on fire (much the opposite according to Basketball Monster), but rather Chauncey Billups (1.39) playing a game of NBA Jam and tossing in 6-8 three-pointers. He ended up 13-19 from the field overall, and also made all 5 of this free throws while adding 6 rebounds, 9 assists, and a steal.
Honorable Mentions: Stephen Curry (1.37) continued on the campaign trail for ROY with 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 13 assists. Also, 2 steals and a block.
JR Smith (1.13) remembered to forget any doubts about his ability to hit the long ball, making 7 of them en route to 25 points, adding 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Remember when he was traded to Denver for Howard Eisley and two 2nd round draft picks? Yeah, that was another brilliant move by my Chicago Bulls.
Anderson Varejao (0.79) had 14 and 10 with 3 blocks, while LeBron James (0.55) scored 36 points (3 threes), 7 rebounds, and 9 assists. No blocks or steals, though, come on, LeBron!
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: While the debate over James Singleton rages, TJ Ford (0.53) shared the court with Earl Watson for 39 minutes, and while he shot only 3-10 from the floor, he made 11-12 free throws to end up with 17 points, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Not sure who’s shots TJ Ford is blocking, but: Boom, Roasted on them.
The Biggest Loser: I wanted to sneak in Carmelo Anthony (-0.45) just to endcap the post with Nuggets, but then Antawn Jamison (-0.69) had to spoil things for me. Jamison was 4-9 and 1-2, ending up with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 turnovers. He’s not gellin’ like Magellen. But, when you’ve got LeBron and Varejao propping your team up like they did, you can still beat a Paul Pierce-less, 12-man rotation from the Boston Celtics.
All Eyez On Me: Cleveland will try to continue their run against Toronto tonight, and perhaps LeBron will try to convince Chris Bosh that NYC or Miami will end up making him more money as a Scottie Pippen than staying in Toronto as a Patrick Ewing.
Also of note, Dallas continues to put their new mettle to the test against the Hawks.
The Golden Ticket: New York at Washington… cogs in the trades continue to try to fit into the machine. Utah at Sacramento might yield another big night for Carlos Boozer.
Friday’s Tiny Dancer(s): Pictures like these only make you want more, right? Well, too bad! You can’t have any! Even though I want to find as many pictures of the Nuggets Dancers in skimpy black and white outfits as I can, I tried, and I can’t. The pictures on Maxim.com aren’t even close! Not even close!
