Line of the Night: From the way Paul Millsap (1.13) played, it’s as if the Utah Jazz did not miss their former starting power forward, Carlos Boozer. Millsap was beyond Boozer-like as the Jazz crushed the Thunder. Paul put up 30 points on 12-19, shooting from the field (63.2%) and 6 of 8 from the line (75%). As if the points and FG% impact wasn’t enough, he grabbed 16 boards and dished six assists. Newly acquired Al Jefferson is still learning the system and is still getting into Sloan-acceptable shape. So it seems that Millsap will be doing a lot of the Boozer-shoe filling until Al Jeff gets there.
Honorable Mentions: Teammates Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook came in at a tie (0.99) in a losing effort for the Thunder. KD tried his best to lift up his embattled team with 28 points, four three-pointers, four rebounds and two steals and two blocks. Westbrook came up with 22 points, four boards, five dimes, and picked four pockets.
In other games, Jason Kidd (0.97) lead (fantasy-wise) the Dallas Mavericks in dropping the Blake Griffin and Company, a.k.a. Los Angeles Clippers, to an 0 and 3 start for the season. The fantasy immortal Kidd flirted with a triple-double as he went 13/9/7, plus three treys and two steals.
Lamar Odom (0.87) had a well rounded game against, you guessed it, the Golden State Warriors. – Interlude: I am considering playing a stable producer with three games (one against GSW) versus a relatively equally productive player with four games. The Warriors matchup is possibly that good. Let’s get Patrick to crunch some numbers once we have a ten-game sample. – Back to Odom. 16/14/4 with two treys, one steal, and one block. 66.7 FG% via six of nine shooting was pretty cool too. The punchline? Odom logged all of that fantasy goodness in 28 minutes and change. Since I own Odom in about three leagues, I am hoping that Andrew Bynum takes the prudent route and adequately rests his surgically repaired knees and takes as long as needed (and more) in rehabilitating them to 110%. You know, for the longevity of his career and all of that false well-wishing.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: C.J. Miles (0.78) made the most of his 25 minutes on the floor. He’s currently owned in only 6% of Yahoo leagues. Miles erupted for 21 points with three bombs from downtown, four rebounds, a steal and a block. Coach Jerry Sloan has been toying with the idea of utilizing Miles and his outside shooting prowess in the starting lineup. If Miles and Andrei Kirilenko do swap starting roles, expect C.J.’s stock to rise. Slap him on your watch lists. If “you feel lucky punk,” grab him and stash him for now.
The Biggest Loser: David Lee (-0.98) had an off night. He was held scoreless, SCORELESS, for his 19 minutes on the floor. He grabbed three rebounds, dished two assists, which equaled his five turnovers. His owners shouldn’t worry. The Warriors had to contend with the Lakers; not an easy matchup any day.
On Tap: We’ve got three games tonight, but the one I’ve got my on is the Toronto Raptors at Sacramento to do battle with the Kings. Aside from the fact that I’ve invested heavily in 2.4 Raptor players per league, and DeMarcus Cousins in a league or two, I’m intrigued to see how Andrea Bargnani will duke it out with Tyreke Evans on the offensive end of the floor. Shotfest from behind the arc, anyone? Fantasy goodness? I’ll take a helping or two, please.
In honor of the Jazz avoiding a 0-3 start, which last occurred way before Jerry Sloan was coaching (we’re talking 70′s here)… BOOM! – hotter Reese Witherspoon? – Kinda like Millsap is now hotter than Boozer…
