Line of the Night: Congratulations if you bought in early on Serge Ibaka (2.43), who made his presence felt in the paint yesterday for the Thunder. It helped that Jeff Green sat out this game after aggravating his ankle injury on Sunday, giving Ibaka the start and 39 minutes on the court. Ibaka finished with 22 points 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. He’s currently owned in 76% of leagues… meaning 24% of leagues are busy smoking crack right now. Green, who is day-to-day, is expected back this week and Nick Collison has returned for the Thunder, so in reality the rotation is about to get crowded again for Ibaka.
Honorable Mentions:
Kevin Durant (1.82) – Ibaka’s partner in crime at least for this one night – scored 30 points while going a perfect 16-16 from the line; Deron Williams (2.36) – with 31 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 threes was magnificent yet again, but he could not will the Jazz to another comeback victory over the Thunder; Stephen Jackson (1.91) knocked down 5 threes on his way to 26 points; and Gerald Wallace (1.57) hit a Kevin Durant-like 17-19 shots from the free throw line, scoring 26 points with 5 assists.
Channing Frye (67% ownership) should be owned in all leagues while Robin Lopez is out the next month with a sprained knee. Frye played 39 minutes against the Nuggets last night, scoring 15 points with 7 boards and a couple threes. Hakim Warrick (0.20) scored 21 points off the bench and is worth an add in deeper leagues as well.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Darko Milicic (1.65). Yes, that Darko Milicic, scored 13 points, adding 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks in the Wolves loss to the Bobcats. Milicic is currently owned in 36% of leagues, which is pretty high for someone averaging less than 6 points and 6 rebounds a game. However, he is blocking 2.5 shots, so add him if your team is jonesing for some blocks.
Pick Up Lines:
Kris Humphries (1.50) started again at PF for the Nets pulled down a double-double with 13 points, 12 boards and 3 blocks. Meanwhile, Troy Murphy didn’t get off the bench despite shooting around with the team before the game. Murphy owners can direct their hate mail to Avery Johnson, who has decided to stick with the hot lineup du jour. That means Humphries is a bona fide add, at least until Avery changes his mind and reinserts Murphy or Favors into the lineup.
Devin Harris was ejected during the second quarter of this game, so Travis Outlaw (1.49) also stepped up with 23 points on 9-14 shooting (4-6 from three). That’s two great games in a row for Outlaw, but temper your expectations since this game came against the injury-plagued (and just plain bad) Clippers.
Al-Farouq Aminu (0.59) got the start at SF for the banged up Clips, played 28 minutes and scored 14 points with a couple of threes and 5 boards. Keep an eye on him and his minutes if you are in a deeper league.
The Biggest Loser: Shawn Marion (-1.24). We ain’t expecting much from Marion at this point in his career, but 5 points on 2-6 shooting with 5 turnovers is sad even for Marion, especially since he was inserted into the starting lineup for Caron Butler who is out with back spasms.
On Tap: Portland (6-5) at Memphis (4-7) – Brandon Roy has been ruled out of this game tonight because of his left knee. Expect Wesley Matthews to start in his place.
Toronto (2-8) at Washington (2-6) – John Wall probably will not play in this game since he is currently walking around with crutches. That makes Kirk Hinrich a spot start and this game something you don’t want to watch.
Atlanta (7-4) at Indiana (4-4) – The Hawks reportedly turned down a trade for Jason Thompson that would have sent Jeff Teague to the Kings. That would have been a nice deal for Teague (and a bad one for Beno Udrih) but the Hawks would have been left awfully thin at PG with Mike Bibby as an island.
