Well, after restarting my computer and my router, we can blame this one on my microphone. Most of the time when I talked it was too quiet to hear, and while that’s certainly the less important part of the podcast (compared to when Erik or Patrick is talking) it’s difficult to listen to, in parts and simply silent in others, so instead I’m going to provide a summary of what Erik and I talked about this morning. Then at least you can share in the knowledge we attempted to impart.

Week in Review: What is the biggest story of the week in your opinion?

First, Brandon Roy is back. Erik and I are both going to have to decide what to do with Wesley Matthews. There is a strong sentiment that it’s only a matter of time before Roy is shut down for the season, and so, if you have room (or are in a weekly changes league), Matthews is worth hanging onto. But, if your league has daily changes, it’s probably too much to ask to keep someone who won’t really be playing for an undetermined period of time.

Next, Reggie Evans is out. I know, what will the world do without his ridiculous rebounding numbers without any attempt at getting other stats? More importantly, though, who will get the minutes? Our consensus was that Amir Johnson and Linas Kleiza would split the time at PF while Sonny Weems and Peja Stojakovic at SF. Peja may get occasional time at PF, but he still needs to prove he’s worth picking up in the first place.

Waiver Wire Pickup of the Week: Since everyone’s playing either 3 or 4 games this week, there’s not much advantage to be gained by playing the schedule. Washington, though, has 4 games with no back-to-backs, so let’s look at Erik’s pick: Nick Young (9% owned) has had four consecutive games scoring 18+ and had some decent peripherals. My pick was Ersan Ilyasova (5% owned). With Carlos Delfino out another 2 weeks, Drew Gooden with plantar fasciitis, and Bogut with back spasms, Ilyasova gets 37 minutes a game.

Early Keeper Targets: Yes, somehow we decided to talk about keeper targets already. Erik thinks that Javale McGee is, and will continue to be, the real deal for Wizards. With a guy like John Wall getting him the ball, it’s not a bad idea. I was thinking about Mo Williams, who has returned to prove that he is the Cavaliers now. Good player on a bad team is often a decent way to go in fantasy basketball.

Reader Erik Question: Should owners panic about J.J. Hickson? What can be done?

Well, after Erik found out that Mr. Patience – that’s me – was thinking about ditching Hickson, that just about sealed it. As if the 210 ranking on the player rater wasn’t enough. Until further notice, Hickson is dunzo.
