Line of the Night: It’s been a while since we’ve seen Rajon Rondo (2.04) blowing up the Line of the Night. I have to think it’s simply impossible that he’ll average 14 assists for a whole season, he’s like Peter Graves and he chose to accept that mission. Unfortunately for his fantasy owners, that’s just one category and with a free throw percentage like his, and the turnovers that come with league-leading 14 assists per game (3.9 of them) it’s easy to end up in the Player Rater doghouse (he’s down at 86 at the this article went to publication). All that said (and that was kind of a lot of exposition), Rondo beat out an MVP candidate last night with his 19 points (9-14 from the field), 5 rebounds, 14 assists and 3 steals. It helps that it was a Thursday (only 3 games) and he didn’t have a free throw attempt, but when you look at Dwight Howard‘s line, it’s impressive that Rondo was able to top it.

Honorable Mentions: Rondo’s best free throw missing friend Dwight Howard (1.81) had 39 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Everyone’s favorite Waiver Wire Pickup (of the Year?) Wesley Matthews (1.64) had another 20 point game, going 6-6 from the line and adding 3 steals.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Jodie Meeks (1.09) has started 4 straight games and continues to impress with 19 points including 4 threes, 6-9 from the field and 3-3 from the line. He won’t give you much of anything else at this point, but if you’ve got the so-called Efficiency Ball team and need a Guard… Holy crap, I need to go pick him up!

Biggest Loser: I’m tempted to go with Patrick Mills (-0.92) who was all the rage on Twitter just a few days ago, but played only 5 minutes and missed 2 threes to end up with 0 points, 0 rebounds, and 0 assists. But really, Jameer Nelson (-0.73) gets it since he played 30 minutes, going 4-14 (28.6%) to end up with 10 points (he did make 2 threes), and 5 assists to his 3 turnovers.

On Tap: As usual, 3 games on Thursday means a glut of games on Friday. Unlike a lot of Friday’s though, there’s some nice games tonight: OKC is at NOH. Bring yur yunguns! ATL at SAS: Slow and Low, that is the tempo! Orlando at Utah: Revenge of the Magicians! And even the Lakers at Chicago: 2011 Finals Preview!

The Golden Rule: If those matchups above aren’t enough for you, or you are participating in one of those daily league type things, then the match-ups you probably want to look closest at are: Miami @ Golden State – they’re going to run run run until their daddy takes the T-Bird away. Definitely consider LeBron anAnd the New York Knicks will roll into Washington DC, and with their fairly anemic front court, Amar’e is almost guaranteed of another 30+ points (yeah, I mean, JaVale and Andray are aight, but they’re not going to stop STAT – sorry).

I was at the Rose Garden last night. Great crowd willed the Blazers back into it. This is a tremendous NBA city. I can’t tell if I want them to make the 8 seed or just tank it for a better shot in the lottery.

It was nice to see the elusive Vinsanity on that one dunk. Roy just does not have it. Glad I dumped a good bit of change on him in my auction.

You must be talking about the finals matchup in your 2K11 dynasty league, right?

But Kudos to fitting in a least 3 song references (that I could see) into the post. It’s like a game within a post within a blog.

I had to go back and re-read it… I was like “three? that’s a lot!” But you’re right!

I wish Portland could put together a not-so-injured team to reward the fans that stuck with them through the early 2000s…
