Day 64 0f 170: It Doesn’t Matter If They Win Or Lose, It’s How They Play The Game

Line of the Night: LaMarcus Aldridge (3.04) and Blazers may have lost by 18 points, but here in the world of fantasy basketball, all we care is that Aldridge scored 18 points. Of course, the Player Rater also loved his 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and most of all, the 7 blocks. That kind of defense is usually enough to get a player at least some consideration for LotN, even if they end up with +/- of -18 in the Real World of Denver.

Honorable Mentions: Gilbert Arenas (2.31) is showing that he’s going to keep doing what he does in Orlando with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists, 5 threes, and 3 steals. Actually, that might be better than what he does right there. Dwyane Wade (2.17) took over MSG with 40 points adding 9 rebounds and 2 steals. So the Knicks are better, but they’re not going to make the Finals unless someone beats Miami for them. Anderson Varejao (2.00) did what he does with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks, but then helped his owners out by doing something he doesn’t do and going 6-6 from the line.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: George Hill (1.90) just makes it here with 49% ownership. I’m one of those owners and am happy that Hill is back from his minor injury with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 blocks (from a PG!).

For the deeper league pick-ups, there’s Ed Davis (1.85) who is only owned in 4% of leagues, but played the majority of minutes at Center for the Raptors last night, going for 17 points and 12 rebounds with 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Since Andrew Bargnani is expected to be out for the rest of the Raptors road trip, Davis looks like a good pick-up in any league (deep or shallow) that has daily lineup changes.

Brandon Rush (0.99) started for the Pacers and led them to a 12 point loss over Boston (no, that’s not a typo). Rush had been in a slump since his string of double-digit scoring games, but his game log seems to indicate that he’ll be in for another run of decent to pretty nice games. If you’re not expecting any more than decent to pretty nice from your waiver wire at this point, well, there you go.

I can’t bring myself to recommend that you actually pick up Luc Mbah a Moute (0.66) since his minutes have been on the inconsistent side of inconsistency, but in deeper leagues, he might be worth a try, or at least a flag… He’s pretty sort of halfway decent when he gets up above 25 minutes a game.

Biggest Loser: I guess Tim Duncan is technically the Biggest Loser from last night, but considering the Spurs were able to roll the Lakers with he and Manu on the bench for most of the 4th quarter, I kind of think he’s still a winner.
