Day 73 of 170: Denver, You’ve Just Been Tyreke’d

Line of the Night: Sorry to keep playing out the headline, but with only 2 games last night, the big story is that Sacramento beat Denver (with Carmelo) by 20 points. The Kings were led by Tyreke Evans (2.28) and his 27 points (11-18 from the field 5-5 from the line), 5 rebounds, 12 assists, and 2 steals. He’s gonna be going high in drafts next year, that’s for sure.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Technically, Francisco Garcia (1.41) gets it with 14 points, 4 threes, 4 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. We’ve always said that when Garcia is on, he’s the guy who can give you a three, a steal, and a block per game. He’s actually pretty close to that this season (which is probably why he’s owned in 39% of leagues) but his points and rebounds are down a bit from what we want to see to make him a universal pick up.

Shawn Marion may be owned in 69% of leagues now, but DeShawn Stevenson (0.59) is still sitting at only 10%. If you need threes, he’s definitely a good place to look – last night he had 14 points and 4 threes. He’s not doing much else, but nobody’s perfect… especially in this season of fantasy basketball.

Omri Casspi (0.47) has put together 3 good games in a row, going for 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 threes last night. That probably means that I’ll pick him up and ruin it for everyone (see also: Mickael Pietrus’s 2 games since I picked him up 2 games ago). I’m sure a lot of people feel cursed when it comes to picking up guys from the free agent pool, right? Right? Right? Come on!

I wish I could help you more, but when you’ve got Nenad Krstic going for 6 and 9 and Shelden Williams going for 9 and 6… well, can you really think about anything else now? Can you? Yeah, take that.

Biggest Loser: J.R. Smith (-1.13) is still owned in 66% of leagues, but looks to be about 66% back in the Denver Doghouse. Last night he played 12 minutes, ending with 2 points and 1 rebounds. (Yes, I know 1 rebound isn’t supposed to be plural, but I thought I would try it out for comedic effect)
