Day 83 of 170: Clippers’ Dynamic Duo

It was a rare, light Sunday night and we only had two games on tap. A virtually home-home, Laker-Clipper game and a San Antonio versus an-about-to-be-blown-up (rosterwise) Denver match-up. The Clippers snuck away with a win, which isn’t so surprising considering  the Lakers have one eye on the Playoffs and the other on their Lazyboys.

When Kobe eventually retires, or fades away into fantasy obscurity (whichever comes first); we’ll be looking to guys like  Eric Gordon (2.29) as our “shooting guard of choice” in the future. He’s got a diverse enough line, and has shown to be very consistent so far.  Considering who he was matched up against, Gordon really stepped up his game to finish with our Line of the Night. He polished off the Lakers with 30 points (4 threes, 13-20 from the field, ), 6 assists, and 4 steals. Moving forward, he and Blake Griffin are looking to develop into a Clipper “Awesome twosome.” That’s at least until such time that they realize that they are playing for Clippers and want “to play for a better team.” I’m not being a mean Clipper-hater here, but their (Clippers) history kind of speaks for itself.

Honorable Mentions:
From the second game we’ve got Tony Parker (2.21) going off on a probably “not in the mood” Chauncey Billups (-0.08). The Spurs can attribute health to their successful 2010-11 campaign. They’ve had the benefit of being able to cycle “good games” from their key players. Last night was Tony’s turn at the bat. He delivered some solid numbers with 30 points (11-15 from the field, 6-6 from the line), 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. On the opposing end, Nene Hilario (1.60) led the charge for Nuggets with 17 points (6-10 from the field, ), 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals, showing us once again why he’s still a solid big man with the unique specialty of being a good source of steals. Speaking of solid big men… well I don’t think the words solid and  Andrew Bynum (1.52)  have been used in the same sentence or in a positive context in the last couple of years. Last night, however, Bynum was the almost sole fantasy bright spot for the Lakers as he teased us once again with one of those lines that bitch-slaps non-believers into an awestruck silence. Hey, 18 points (7-11 from the field, 4-4 from the line), 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks is nothing to laugh at.

Speaking of guys who haven’t been the models consistency, Baron Davis (1.30) looks like he’s “in the mood” or at least lately. It’s either that or it simply took this long for him to properly get into game shape. Somehow, I’d place my money on a combination of both. He finished the game with 14 points , 8 assists, and 2 steals.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: With only two games on tap, this was kind of a tough call to make. George Hill (0.63), the back up guard for the Spurs is only owned in 52% of leagues has shown to a reasonably solid contributor. If only to handcuff your Tony Parker and more likely your Manu Ginobili (1.23), Hill might just be worth a stash for the future.

Biggest Loser:

DeJuan Blair (-0.68) has been truly consistent at one thing for the most part of this season, and that’s being inconsistent. Blair had one of his off nights, producing only 3 points, 4 rebounds, 0 assists, which immediately followed his impressive 18-13 game against Dallas. I can imagine how much of a frustration nightmare he’s been for his deep-league owners, so far.
