Line of the Night: We’ve been talking a lot about Kevin Durant lately, but last night against Utah it was the Robin to his Batman, Russell Westbrook (2.56), who delivered the goods. Westbrook shot 10-15 from the field and 4-4 from three to finish with 33 points and 10 assists as the Thunder dropped 121 points against the Jazz in the win.

Honorable Mentions: It was a good night for old dudes (with the exception of me, who had to shovel 2 feet of snow off my roof… it only took 5 hours). Chauncey Billups (2.22) took advantage of the Timberwolves and the worst defense in the league to score 21 points, with 4 threes, 5 rebounds, and 13 assists; Kobe Bryant (2.18) scored 32 for the Lakers. He hit 4 threes with 9 rebounds, 5 assists. His teammate Pau Gasol (1.92) got some advice from Kobe to be more aggressive and he took it to heart, scoring 34 points (on 13-17 shooting from the field) with 10 boards.

And one not so old dude, Wesley Matthews (2.14), scored 31 points, hit 5-7 from three and added 2 steals for the Blazers in a very special win over the Cavs.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Everyday can’t be a winner. We have to go all the way down to the 19th best line last night to find Corey Brewer’s (1.15) 15 point, 5 rebound, 5 assist game. It’s difficult – nay impossible – to recommend picking up a guy who is shooting 38% on the season, but Brewer is starting for the Wolves and has strung together two good shooting performances in a row. Unfortunately I’d bet he doesn’t make it to a third.

Pick Up Lines: With Al Horford sitting out the Hawks game with a bad back, Marvin Williams (0.96) got the start, played 40 minuets and finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Williams is worth a look in deepish leagues, although his 12 boards ties his season high. I’d expect mediocre Marvin Williams to return for the Hawks next game, especially if Horford is back in the lineup.

Nels’ mentioned yesterday that many of these waiver wire guys are too inconsistent on a game-to-game to be worth picking up. And while that is very true, Chuck Hayes (0.82) is one guy who continues to put up solid lines night after night. So, we’ll keep beating his drum (not a euphemism) as long as he’s owned in less than 50% of leagues. Hayes latest included 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks in an overtime game against Memphis.

In super deep leagues, Christian Eyenga (0.75) continues to start for the record-setting Cavs (because they have no better options) and has been putting up lines like this one against the Blazers: 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. It’s not amazing, but it will play in a 14+ team league during weeks where the Cavs play 4 games.

Biggest Loser: Speaking of the Cavs, I mean, you can’t NOT mention their record setting 24th loss in a row as a biggest loser nominee. The record breaker came in a 111-105 loss to the Blazers and puts the Cavs record at 8-42 a year after they won 61 games. No Cav was particularly bad from a fantasy perspective in the game, primarily due to the fact that we already have low expectations for them this season.

In terms of on the court “play”, Mike Conley (-0.69) scored 6 points on 2-16 shooting in the Grizzlies loss. This game came one night after he had a 21 point, 8 assist performance with the flu, so maybe the SEGABABA caught up to him.
