Day 141 of 170: Where I Don’t Care What Happened, Because The Bulls Are In Second

I probably shouldn’t rub it too hard in Patrick’s face, but since the Celtics have been to Finals 3 times in the past 3 years, he can’t be feeling too bad that my Bulls have overtaken the Green Goblins at the top of the Eastern Conference. We we we so excited! Sure, Derrick Rose (1.06) was only the 9th best fantasy line of the night with 23 points (5-5 from the line), 7 assists, and 2 steals, but there were 7 other teams with players vying for momentary fantasy glory (which I’m sure was the foremost thing on all their minds). The Bulls are hotter than Rebecca Black right now. (If you haven’t seen that video before, please have a couple glasses of irony and at least one shot of snark before you begin)

Line of the Night: Joe Johnson (2.60) led the Hawks against the Bucks with 36 points (6 threes, 13-19 from the field, 4-4 from the line) and 5 rebounds.

Honorable Mentions: The Hawks were flying strong (so punny!) last night. They already had the LotN, and Josh Smith (1.72) follows that up with 17 points (8-12 from the field), 14 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 blocks. Definitely part of the reason they won by 25 points. Dirk Nowitzki (1.67) put up 28 points (9-14 from the field, 9-9 from the line) with 11 rebounds in a close one for the Mavs. Danny Granger (1.65) helped Indiana to a 2 point win with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks making the Knicks look much threatening. Still, I’d rather get Indiana or Charlotte in the first round than NYC. Wesley Matthews (1.48) continued his fine fantasy play this season with 18 points (4 threes, 5-7 from the field, 4-4 from the line). Andrew Bogut (1.18) has his own double-double streak going now with 21 points, and 13 rebounds. Any guesses on whether the streak will reach two games? John Wall (1.14) reminded us that he can still play ball even if he’s on a crappy team with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. And because of his 5-14 shooting, JaVale McGee (1.12) could only get to #8 on the night despite a triple-double consisting of 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 BLOCKS. Yes, you read that right. Dude blocked 12 shots. I’d hate to be playing him in fantasy right now.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Despite the title of the post, I guess I have to care that Keith Bogans (1.59) had 17 points (5 threes), 5 rebounds, and 2 steals because I felt like Kyle Korver was playing well enough to limit Bogans who has been kind of like most of the girls on Ark Productions roster that aren’t Rebecca Black. Which is to say: not laughably bad (like Becs), but certainly not good.

Go Bulls! Even Keith Bogans!

Pick Up Lines: Toney Douglas (1.37) had 17 points (4 threes), 4 assists, and 2 steals and at 31% owned, he’s probably rostered in about every league where anyone is paying any attention.

Don’t be fooled Rodrigue Beaubois (1.06) and his 16 points (4 threes, 6-8 from the field), and 4 assists. You need consistency right now, and he is not going to give you what you need. Which is consistency.

Kurt Thomas (0.79) is still filling in ably for Carlos Boozer with a pretty nice line of 8 points, 15 rebounds, and 2 blocks (4% owned). With the Bulls playing so well without Boozer, he probably won’t be rushed back to service, which makes Thomas a good pick for daily changes leagues if you need some extra rebounds and blocks.

Shawne Williams (0.67) had 10 points and 6 rebounds. He sits at 8% owned, and has clawed his way up to #74 on the Player Rater for the last month. And with his third good game in a row, I can now say that you would not be unwise to consider picking him up.

Finally, it’s hard not to want someone who is a cross between Michael Jordan and Jamal Crawford (at least in name) to succeed. Am I right? Anyway, Jordan Crawford (0.62) scored 27 points (3 threes) with 4 assists, and if nothing else, he seems like he could be a decent fantasy pick in the vein of “a good player on a bad team” next season.

Biggest Loser: Bucks losing by 25 points? I guess it was Brandon Jennings (-0.93) and his 4 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists with the 1-8 from the field. You need 12 blocks to make up for that kind of performance B-Jen. Where did the 50 point games go?
