I usually dread writing the Friday post when there’s only games the night before, and last night was no different in terms of fantasy performances. Usually it seems like we end up with a bunch of honorable mentions who wouldn’t get mentioned if there were a few more games being played, but with an unexpected meltdown by the Mavs and two of the leagues best defenses going at it, things just broke down to the level where coaches were looking for two pennies to rub together.

Line of the Night: I mean, Jose Juan Barea (-0.24) will always a winner in my book simply for getting to hang out in an intimate setting with a former Miss Universe (Zuleyka Rivera), but his 10 points on 4-8 from the field with 3 rebounds and 3 assists doesn’t exactly scream Line of the Night material. Ms. Rivera, though, I hear he picked her up like a Waiver Wire Line of the Night after some other team dude dropped her. Nice moves, JJ.

Oh, and also, this Teen Wolf show looks super awesome.

    GIVE ME THE APRIL FOOLS!!!

And now back to the non-April Fool’s version of the post.

I usually dread writing the Friday post when there’s only games the night before, but last night actually turned out pretty well in terms of fantasy performances. Usually it seems like we end up with a bunch of honorable mentions who wouldn’t get mentioned if there were a few more games being played, but the games got pretty intense last night between the four playoff-bound teams.

Line of the Night: Paul Pierce (1.69) led the way for the Celtics with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists against the slumping Spurs. San Antonio even had Tim Duncan back (much to my chagrin – I’m playing team that had took the risk of putting him in the lineup).

Honorable Mentions: Lamar Odom (1.60) came up with 16 points (3 threes, 6-10 from the field) and 11 rebounds in the Lakers big win over Dallas. Andrew Bynum (1.57) was also a big part of the Laker win with 18 points (6-9 from the field), 13 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Opposing counsel Dirk Nowitzki (1.41) put up a good argument for his side with 27 points (6-6 from the line), and 13 rebounds, but didn’t get a lot of support (the next best Maverick was Jason Kidd at #13 on the night, followed by the Waiver Wire Line of the Night [see below]). Tony Parker (1.37) was back in the Spurs lineup scoring 23 points, putting up 8 assists, and grabbing 2 steals to go along with the return of Tim Duncan (1.33) who had 20 points (8-12 from the field), 13 rebounds, and 2 blocks. See what I mean? We’ve repeated teams twice so far and the lines are still pretty nice. Then we get to Ron Artest (1.24) who only had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists, but quickly follow that up with Rajon Rondo‘s (1.22) 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 14 assists. For those who stopped paying attention after his averaged dropped below 14 assists per game, Rondo is still at 11.3 for the season. Then we get a third and fourth Celtic in with Glen Davis‘s (1.04) 16 points (8-12 from the field) and 8 rebounds, and Kevin Garnett (0.93) who had 20 points (9-12 from the field), and 9 rebounds. Those might have might the Top 10 on any particular night and here there only the 3rd and 4th best lines from a single team.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: If you’re looking for threes, you could probably do worse than Peja Stojakovic (0.55), who had 13 points, connecting on 3 threes for the second straight game (15% owned).

Pick Up Lines: Since the big boys / All Stars / superstars rocked things out with their performances, I’m hesitant to even mention any of the waiver wire performances… For example, do you really want to know about Delonte West‘s (0.36) 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists? Even though he’s only 2% owned, you probably do not care. Then there’s Matt Bonner (0.27), who made 2 threes en route to 8 points (8% owned). I’ll just stop there cause it gets even uglier.

Biggest Loser: Jason Terry (-0.56) wasn’t doing much to keep the Mavericks in the game with his 5 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, and 2-9 from the field shooting.

In The Bonus: Razzball April Fool’s and a video that is much better than the Teen Wolf preview (don’t worry, it’s SFW):

I got you beat in the Timmy D department. I’m playing against a team in one of the readers’ leagues who picked up Duncan after I dropped him at the beginning of the week when the word was that he’d be out the entire week with his injury.

As always, life teaches us that the end of the NBA season sucks for fantasy basketball.
