    end-nigh1

With (according to a slight miscount on our part) the season officially over, I was considering just writing this post last night when I’d had a couple of beers in me, but I figured I would not be able to adequately and accurately make use of the Not Intended To Be A Factual Statement meme. E.g., GMTR is right with it’s day count, and the NBA is actually off by a day. (Not intended to be a factual statement) Or, Derrick Rose accounts for 90% of the Bulls scoring. (Not intended to be a factual statement) Or: Lala Vasquez is far and away the hottest NBA WAG, easily beating out Kim Kardashian and Zuleyka Rivera, and Hope Dworaczyk. (Not intended to be a factual statement)

Line of the Night: Pau Gasol (1.37) basically won the Lakers the championship last night. (Not intended to be a factual statement). Gasol put the Lakers within 1 win of the #2 seed with 17 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 assists. And with Andrew Bynum hyper-extending his knee, they’ll need as many advantages as they can get. (That’s an injury note for anyone doing a playoff fantasy basketball league)

Honorable Mentions: LaMarcus Aldridge (1.24) helped the Blazers lock up the #6 seed in the West with 22 points (10-16 from the field) and 11 rebounds. His teammate Andre Miller (1.13) didn’t have a blow-you-away-type game, but scored highly with the Player Rater wtih 9 points (5-5 from the line), 8 assists, and 2 steals. Luol Deng (0.94) paced the Bulls in their 61st win of the season with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. He also saved 4 children from a burning building and rescued a kitten from a tree. (Not intended to be a factual statement). Derrick Rose (0.76) wasn’t far behind with 26 points and 2 steals. I know people who thought he’d improve this season, but even as a Bulls fan I didn’t expect him to put up Top 10 fantasy numbers. Erik is also a believer now.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Rudy Fernandez (1.30) is back just in time for playoff fantasy basketball. And honestly, I think he’s going to have as much value as anyone else on the Blazers after last night’s 18 points and 4 threes. (Not intended to be a factual statement)

Pick Up Lines: Toney Douglas (0.85) continues to confuse the issue of where he should be drafted next season with 13 points (4-4 from the line), 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. It’s not a great line, but his game log in April looks pretty nice.

With the Big 3 out of the lineup for the Spurs, Matt Bonner (0.66) might be a good guy to pick up for the last day of the season, if you still need something like 13 points and 3 threes to close things out (8% owned). Same logic applies for DeJuan Blair (0.60) and his 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals, though he’s probably going to be harder to come by (44% owned).

Biggest Loser: Landry Fields (-0.38) was capable of being a fantasy starter in standard to deep size leagues earlier in the season, but his 8 points on 4-9 shooting combined with 4 rebounds and 2 assists is really only helping roto owners who need to cram in some last minute stats. I’m hoping that no one in a weekly league championship thought he would be worth starting still.
