With little to no progress made at Thursday’s meeting between the owners and players (Henry Abbott details a scene on Thursday with David Stern that resembles a funeral more than anything), the NBA has officially postponed the preseason indefinitely and canceled 43 preseason games.
Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver issued a statement saying, “We have regretfully reached the point on the calendar where we are not able to open training camps on time and need to cancel the first week of preseason games.” Those games were scheduled from Oct. 9th through the 15th.
The owners and players hope to meet again next week, although from the sounds of it, any progress the two sides have made in negotiations has come grinding to a halt. Might be time to start up that Euro fantasy league.
