And I don’t just mean Three-Pointers. The Top THREE lines from last night came from Point Guards. There’s more…

Line of the Night: Kyle Lowry (2.44) is in his 7th year in the league, and has established himself as a high quality fantasy Point Guard because he can put up lines like this: 22 points (4 THREES – obviously there’s those threes too), 10 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals. That’s close to THREE categories that he got to double-digits in. And he’s now up to #2 on the Player Rater for the season.
Honorable Mentions:
Next up is D.J. Augustin (2.29) who has been in the league THREE less years than Lowry (his 4th) but is also looking like a an emerging star with 26 points (4 THREES), and 9 assists. Keep in mind, it took Lowry 6 years before he even got enough playing time to start putting up good looking fantasy numbers. Augustin owners probably got one of the better values in the draft since everyone was worried that Kemba Walker’s presence would cut in to Augustin’s playing time and stats. So far, so good for the people who bet on Augustin (especially if you scan down to the Biggest Loser section for today).
Kyrie Irving (2.22) is another Point Guard (obviously) who has been in the league THREE less years than Augustin. Irving isn’t having the same problems as Walker. He’s been much more consistent and productive, including his 20 points (8-10 from the field, 2 THREES), 6 assists, and 2 blocks. If you were betting on Walker over Irving, you might be better off with some Super Bowl Betting Lines. Irving is now averaging a block a game, which is awesome for a Point Guard. I’m sure most nobody drafted him for that, but if he can somehow keep it up (despite being 6′ THREE”) he might help a few Small Ball teams stay competitive in blocks (whether they care or not).
Okay, we’re done with the whole tenuous connection of THREES thing now…
James Harden (2.21) is off to an amazing and/or unexpected start this year, sitting at #12 on the Player Rater after his 23 points (3 threes, 6-6 from the line), 6 assists, and 3 steals last night.
Kobe Bryant (2.01) and Andrew Bynum (1.25) both did what they do best last night; Kobe with 37 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists; Bynum with 21 points, 22 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Together they accounted for more than 50% of the Lakers total output in Points.
After a rough first 3 games, Al Jefferson (1.72) seems to be back on track, having had 3 nice games in a row, including last night’s 26 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
Not a lot of WoW factor in these last three lines, but they’re up at the top, so here there are, plain and simple: Mike Conley (1.66) had 14 points (5-8 from the field), 7 assists, and 4 steals; Antawn Jamison (1.43) had 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks; Derrick Rose (1.42) with 30 points (3 threes), and 7 assists.

Personal Note: Since I have Rudy Gay on half of my fantasy teams, it is important to me to note that it looks like he has finally shaken off the rust, shooting 62.5% from the field last night. I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief now.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Sam Young (1.58) got 28 minutes in a blow out win against the Kings, so while his 20 points (8-13 from the field, 4-4 from the line), 7 rebounds, and 3 steals look impressive, it probably won’t be repeated often. Leave his 2% ownership rate as it is.
Pick Up Lines: Drew Gooden (1.21) started in place of Andrew Bogut who left the team for personal reasons. Brandon Jennings evidently said Bogut was dealing with something back home, which could mean he’ll be out a couple more days if it means flying back home to Australia and then flying back. In his absence, Gooden played 36 minutes and scored 24 points (12-20 from the field), with 12 rebounds (8% owned). If you’re in a deep league or a daily changes league with a Big Ball team, Gooden might be worth an add just in case Bogut ends up missing extended time.
Derrick Favors (0.82) is probably added already in leagues where he’s useful (35% owned) but if you’re in a deep league or have some other Waiver Wire fodder at the end of your bench, he’s worth a look after putting up 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Obviously he’s not going to break out unless there’s an injury on the Jazz front line, but he’s getting a consistent 22 minutes now and if he can put up 8 and 8 with a little over a block, he will be of value to Big Ball teams in standard size leagues.
Daniel Gibson (0.52) made another 2 threes to end with 8 points (14% owned). If you need some threes, especially in a daily changes league, Gibson has shown he’ll give you that. He’s also putting up almost a steal and a block in his 24 minutes. The key here is that he’s not a great player on an even worse team.
Two big guys to consider adding, especially in deep leagues are Nick Collison (0.48), who had 6 points, and 9 rebounds (4% owned), and D.J. White (0.48) who had 10 points, and 7 rebounds (7% owned). White has the lower rater line last night, but he’s the one to try to add first since Collison has only had 2 fantasy worthy games so far this year.
Biggest Loser: Kemba Walker (-1.17) continued his literal rollercoaster of stat lines, following up 17 points, 2 threes, 4 assists, and a steal with last night’s 2 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, and 1-6 from the field.
Injury Note: Devin Harris (-1.02) left the game after 17 minutes with a strained calf. He had 0 points, 0 rebounds, and 6 assists at the time. He is now Day-To-Day, and since he tends to not like to play a full season and dropped to #146 on the Player Rater, it’s hard for me to advocate holding on to him.
