I am infatuated the Boom, Roasted idea like a 8th grade kid at summer camp is with the hot older counselor. Since I’m in 2nd place in the GMTR Monster League, and 3rd place in the Smaller Readers’ League, I can’t really roast those guys (or is that not right, since you’re supposed to roast people who are really awesome?)

Anyway, I’m going to Roast my Battle of the Bloggers league team since they’re currently 8th out of 10 teams in the league. And I’m playing against Bloggers here! or…

Nels: you’re in 8th place out of only 10 teams and you’re playing against bloggers. Boom, roasted.

Here’s the rundown…

Al Jefferson: Career low in games played. Boom, roasted.
Joe Johnson: I have a Big Ball team, so can you decide if you want to make field goals or free throws for me. Thanks. Boom, roasted.
Manu Ginboli: You still don’t start and you’re playing only 27 minutes now. Boom, roasted.
Derrick Rose: You may be starting in this league, but you’re on the bench in the Readers’ league. Boom, roasted.
LeBron James: Chris Paul has been injured and you’re still number 2. Boom, roasted.
Corey Maggette: How the hell do you get to be eligible at PF? Only in Golden State. Boom, roasted.
David West: You’re a bizarro big man with your low FG% and high FT%. Maybe stop shooting so many 18-footers, and step inside the key. Boom, roasted.
Marc Gasol: You and Pau both have way too much hair. Boom, roasted.
Ronny Turiaf: I only have you on my team because all my supposed big men can’t block any effing shots. Boom, roasted.
Ramon Sessions: I think I regret dropping Greg Oden for you. Boom, roasted.
Drew Gooden: I just dropped you to get Greg Oden back. Boom, roasted.
Greg Oden: I know I’m going to regret dropping Drew Gooden for you, even though you both have so many letters in common. Boom, roasted.
Jeff Green: I just picked you up, so I have no beef with you. Boom, roast beef.

And since I’m enjoying this a little too much right now… I’m finna roast the other managers in the league. (All in good fun, of course, hence the links to people sites. Nothing personal. Links = Love, right?)

The other bloggers in the league are:
Dennis of About.com Basketball (1st place): Sellout. Boom, roasted.

Zorgon of Blue Blitz (2nd place): You stole IBM’s font. I may or may not know people at a company whose font you stole who could sue you. Boom, <del>roasted</del> threatened.

Ethan of NeswSports.com (3rd place): I had your URL wrong in my original post about this league and you never corrected me. Thanks for reading. Boom, roasted.

UtesFan89 of The Utah Jazz (4th place): I’m pretty sure WordPress.com has other themes. Boom, roasted.

Scott of Waiting for Next Year (5th place): Your blog name wont be so cute after the Cavs win the championship. Unless they can’t beat the Lakers at home. Boom, roasted.

Erik of Points in the Paint (and Give Me The Rock) 6th place: You have way too much time on your hands. Boom, roasted. Also: Sellout. Boom, roasted.

Mookie of A Stern Warning (7th place): Do people really even care if Chris Brown is at All Star Weekend? Also: Sellout. Boom, roasted.

Ryan of Hoops Addict (9th place): You may be awesome at blogging, but the same cannot be said about fantasy basketball. Boom, roasted.

Zach of Talkhoops.net (10th place): It’s probably time to drop Elton Brand. Boom, roasted. (You have Danny Granger and Tim Duncan for crying out loud. Get your game on!)

Any just so we’re clear that I can take it as well as dish it out:
Nels: the first joke you think of is pretty much never funny. Boom, roasted.

Okay… not really. But he did have the Line of the Night.

Line of the Night: Stephen Jackson (1.66) was 6 threes and 4 rebounds short of the quadruple-double. But, he still had 35 points, 6 rebounds, 10 boards, and 4 threes with 0 turnovers. Not a bad night. Oh, and the score of the Double Coupon Golden Ticket? 144-127 in favor of the Warriors. A little bit of I Love The 80′s, anyone?

Honorable Mentions: S-Jax’s partner in crime Kelenna Azubuike (1.38) was second on the night with 22 and 10, adding 3 steals and 2 blocks. His 70% from the field was significantly higher than Jackson’s 45%. They both were perfect from the line, but in K-Azu’s case, that 1-1 won’t help you too much, while Stevie’s 13-13 certainly will.

LeBron James (1.34) scored 47 points (4 threes, 71.4%, 92.9%) in a one-point loss the to Pacers. Tim Duncan (1.25) was actually closer to a quadruple-double than Stephen Jackson with his 27, 9, 8 and 4 blocks. The Big Fun even shot 83.3% from the line!

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: After those 4 top performers, we come to the 5%-owned Joey Graham (1.16). J-Graham had 24 points (1 three, 66.7%, 100%), 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks as he helped the Bosh-less Raptors beat the Jefferson-less Timberwolves. Graham would be a good one-day pickup for his game against the Spurs tonight, but since Bosh is not out for the season like Jefferson, he’s going to be a pretty short-term play.

On a related note – Kevin Love started and played pretty decently in just about 38 minutes. Mike Miller had 43 minutes, but played like Caaa Caaa. Love is only owned in 77% of leagues, so if you’re in a smaller league, you might want to check the Free Agent Pool.

The Biggest Loser: Sports fans who have to heard non-stop chatter about steroids in baseball. If you were the Commish, wouldn’t you think it would be better just to get all the names out there, rather than this year-by-year “Roger Clemens – Everbody freak out now!” “A-Rod – Everybody freak out again!” … I mean, why not just overwhelm all the talking heads out there by dropping the 100-name List Bomb. Boom, Roasted.

Really, though, Mo Williams (-0.43) shot 39% on 18 shots. He did score 15 points (because he took so many shots) and had 6 rebounds, but zeroed out everything else except turnovers, of which he had 3.

All Eyez On Me: Boston @ New Orleans would normally be a good game, but since CP3 is taking it easy until at least after the All Star break, Rajon Rondo won’t have to deal with the number one fantasy player in the league.

Denver @ Orlando could be a good game… Phoenix @ Cleveland is interesting just because of the Amare factor. For the record, I’d give any combination of the the three players their talking about sending from the Bulls (I’m counting the draft pick as a player). I’m not sure about giving up 4 players, but then, Derrick Rose and Amare Stoudemire is a pretty good pick-n-roll Stockton-Malone type combo. Of course, Stockton and Malone never won a championship, so maybe that’s not such a good thing.

The Golden Ticket: Golden State gets a day to recover from the track meet last night, but the Knickerbockers head into LA to take on the Clippers. Luckily, the Clips only average 92 possessions per game (where the Warriors go for 99).

PS: How much would I love to see a team get over 100 possession per game? That would just be Re-Donk.
